About The Event
Teacher: Hadi Yves Saint-Pierre
Join us for a joyful and engaging exploration of rhythm through drumming, movement, and improv. In this 4-week hand drum class, children will learn the foundations of musical rhythm—counting beats, understanding musical notation, and producing clear Doum and Tek sounds on frame drums or hand drums. Each session blends structured learning with creative expression, including clapping games, walking rhythms, and gentle improvisation.
Our approach honors rhythm as an inherent gift of every human being, and every child—the heartbeat, the breath, the walking step—and offers a glimpse into rhythm’s deeper experience across spiritual cultures/traditions. Our focus is to help children tune into stillness, presence, and the joy of synchronization.
Throughout the program, children will:
Learn to count rhythms in 4/4 time using claps, words, and drum hits
Practice techniques for producing rich, resonant drum sounds on the frame drum (provided by facilitator)
